Chicago Nolli Map

The Chicago Nolli Maps and 3-D model are an investigation of the spatial complexity of downtown Chicago. The urban morphology of high-rise, mid-rise and low-rise construction creates the streets and urban plazas which form the spaces of Chicago urban life and interaction. The project deviates from the 1748 Nolli Map of Rome to illustrate semi-public commercial and lobby spaces as extensions of the public realm. Additional maps explore ground use, age and transportation of the study area.
