This activation will happen at "The Cabbage Patch" partner installation at the Garfield Park Conservatory. Participants will build small seed starter boxes using reclaimed wood, one per person, while supplies last. Each guest will receive one onion seed and enough soil to fill their box. It is believed that Chicago is named for a smelly onion. As storytelling is at the core of this Biennial, planting a vegetable that connects directly to Chicago’s history both in name and local ecology, the planter will serve as both a building activity, and a link to the story of Chicago.
