Drop-In Design Workshop: BP Student Ideas Competition

Venue

We invite young people in grades 7-12 to come brainstorm design ideas in response to the Chicago Architecture Biennial's 2019 BP Student Ideas Competition:

Design a safe community space where young people can share ideas and take action on a local or global issue. The space may be a physical place, an object, or an event.

Led by a professional architect, these workshops are intended to help students develop their design ideas at any stage of the process before submitting to the Fall 2019 BP Student Ideas Competition. Brainstorming materials are provided. Students are welcome to bring their own materials to work on their project.

About the Competition

The Fall 2019 BP Student Ideas Competition is FREE to enter and open to all Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana students in grades 7-12. Winners receive CASH PRIZES (up to $500) and will be honored in a ceremony at the Chicago Cultural Center.

The submission deadline is Friday, December 6th at 11:59 pm. For more details and to submit, visit bpcompetition.org.

This challenge addresses the theme of “design as advocacy” exemplified by projects in the 2019 Chicago Architecture Biennial. Students are encouraged to present their ideas from any discipline, including design, the humanities, visual and performing arts, and STEM. Strong entries will show thoughtfulness is choosing and issue and designing a platform.

The competition is sponsored by BP America and organized by the Chicago Architecture Biennial, in partnership with the Chicago Architecture Center.
