From Confederate statues of fallen “heroes” to holidays honoring colonial explorers, historic memorials are increasingly under public scrutiny in the U.S. Panelists Benjamin Johnson (Loyola University Chicago), Joey Mogul (Chicago Torture Justice Memorial), and Ross Jordan (Jane Addams Hull-House Museum) will explore the intersections of art, placemaking, identity, and social justice in the reconsideration of historic narratives and construction of new monuments.
