The Funambulist by Its Readers: Political Geographies from Chicago and Elsewhere

Venue

The Funambulist magazine founding editor Léopold Lambert leads a roundtable discussion with the five Chicago-based activists who contributed to the 240-page book The Funambulist by Its Readers: Political Geographies from Chicago and Elsewhere, commissioned for the 2019 Chicago Architecture Biennial.

Artist, educator, and scholar Patricia Nguyen, cultural anthropologist Jesse Mumm, educator and multimedia producer Maira Khwaja, author and artist Benji Hart, and journalist and writer Anjulie Rao will expand on their essays, focusing on architecture as it relates to struggles against settler colonialism, gentrification, and police violence in Chicago. This event is a space to amplify the voices of those working right now, on the ground, in the realms of what The Funambulist defines as the politics of space and bodies.
