Comer Recreational Recharge Center by Austin Honeycutt, Michael Slater, Jeremiah Jones, and Zion McKinnie
Our submission responds to the need to transform an unused space in our community to a space that unites the community, supports it with much-needed resources, and also beautifies it. In the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood, there is a lack of green space, a lack of healthy spaces for communities to gather for recreation and fitness, vacant lots, and an overwhelming number of abandoned properties. Our submission addresses this issue of resource disparity by providing a safe space for families to enjoy green space, recreational fitness, and community building. The chosen mediums of foam board and collaged printed paper are best suited for this project because the building will be 3D and modeling it in this way shows the intricate details of the building's design.
